February 2021 Note…

We are very happy to be back in the classroom and back to our routine of in class learning! The students have been enjoying learning lots of new things, reading, writing, and creating! We have been working on counting in math, reading books about winter animals such as the polar bear, penguins and animals that we see in throughout the winter months locally. We celebrated the end of January with a teddy bear picnic, the students made bear puppets in lieu of bringing stuffed toys from home due to Covid safety protocols. The students learned about healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables and chose the snacks to share. We played musical chairs and had a wonderful picnic. We are excited to see if the groundhog will see his shadow or not on February 2nd, be sure to watch out for Shubenacadie Sam! The students are hoping for more snow in February, be sure to remind your children to bring their snow gear to school so they can enjoy the colder weather during recess. If February we will be making an offering to the spirit of Apukanajit, asking that we stay warm and not freeze during the winter, and have enough clothing and food. We will also ask the spirit of Apukanajit to protect us and all who travel during the remaining winter months. We will also be having a Valentine’s day party in February and will be sending out Valentine’s day wishes to all our friends and family! Take care and stay safe!
